I'm sure you've heard by now that Uga VI passed away on Friday night. I was traveling all day today, so I didn't even know until I just got an email from the Deaner.
I once met this Uga up close and personal with not many people around. Damn good dawg.
The Georgia Sports Blog has every link known to man on this, so be sure to check them all out.
Rest in peace Uga. You will be missed.

Two Dawgs/Bengals Headed in Different Directions
Just after we found out the NFL reinstated Odell Thurman, we're told that David Pollack will most likely retire.
I'm sure it will be debated if Odell's reinstatement is a good thing or not. His troubles have been well documented. All I can say is I hope he gets his act together. He is one heck of a football player, and he's proven that on every level.
As for Pollack, if he goes through with this plan to retire from the NFL, I wish him the best. If it's the decision he makes, then it is the right one. I'd hate to see him get hurt again, and maybe not be able to recover as he has this time. If he does retire, he's still got a bright future ahead of him whether he wants to coach, go into broadcasting, or do something unrelated to football. I have no doubt he will be successful in whatever career he chooses.

Surprising News About Herschel
Herschel Walker has written an autobiographical book titled Breaking Free. The unexpected revelation is that the book is said to be about Herschel's battle with Multiple Personality Disorder.
When asked about this, many close to Walker were just as surprised as most Dawg fans to hear the news. From the AJC article...
"I'm probably one of his closest friends and that's news to me," said Frank Ros, a Coca-Cola executive who played linebacker and was captain of Georgia's 1980 national championship team. "I knew he was working on a book but I just thought it was about football. He does 100 things at once and always has projects going on but that blows me away."
Said his former coach, Vince Dooley: "That's all news to me. All I know is whatever personality he had when he had the football was the one I liked."It looks like you can pre order the book from Amazaon*, but there are no details about the book on the site.
I really don't know what to think or say about this. I definitely want to know the story and will probably buy the book. I'm really at a loss for words on the topic.
* In case you are wondering, I have no affiliation with Amazon.

Adding Injury to Insult
As if the beat down wasn't bad enough, Thomas Brown is out 4 to 6 weeks with a broken collarbone according to David Ching.
This is a real shame. Both for Thomas and our football team. On an individual note, the 20 yards rushing Brown gained against Tennessee put him at 2,280 yards rushing for his career. He now has passed Frank Sinkwich for 6th all time at Georgia.
I was projecting him to pass Rodney Hampton for 4th all time by the end of the season. However, with this injury, the odds of him even passing Kevin McLee for 5th are not looking very good.

Thomas Brown's Career Stats Getting Up There
Longtime reader and frequent commenter on the Blawg Ally asked a great question.
I know Thomas passed Robert Edwards & Musa Smith on the list of yardage from RBs at UGA, but don't know exactly where he sits now. Do y'all? I've looked everywhere for the stats and can't find them.I was very surprised to find that individual career statistics are not listed on GeorgiaDogs.com. However, I was able to find these stats on Sic 'Em Dawgs.com. Here is how the all time list for career rushing yards looked prior to the season.
5,259 - Herschel Walker
3,232 - Garrison Hearst
3,017 - Lars Tate
2,668 - Rodney Hampton
2,581 - Kevin McLee
2,271 - Frank Sinkwich
2,228 - Willie McClendon
2,202 - Musa Smith
2,038 - Tim Worley
2,033 - Robert Edwards
Right now, Thomas Brown has 2,260 yards in his career. With only 12 yards he will pass Frank Sinkwich for 6th all time.
Projecting Brown's stats out to the end of the season using his average of 78.6 yards per game, he'll finish the regular season with 943 yards. That would give him a career total of 2,810 yards. With that total he'd pass Rodney Hampton for fourth all time. Now, maybe his average will drop over the season, but he could also have more games to play in. There is still the potential for the SEC title game plus a bowl game.

More Bad News: Former Back McLee Dies
Kevin McLee, a running back for Georgia in the 70's, died of a stroke on Sunday. McLee rushed for 2,581 yards during his Georgia career. That was enough to be atop the career rushing record book when he left Georgia.
You may recall that McLee's son, Kevin "Boo" McLee, played against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl a few year's back as a linebacker for West Virginia. The Athens Banner Herald had an article about it.
It's terrible to lose someone at such a young age. McLee was only 52. My thoughts are with his family.

News On Coach Dooley's Surgery
It was discovered that the tumor removed near Vince Dooley's vocal chords was in fact malignant. Luckily, he is still expected to have a speedy recovery. Barbara Dooley had this to say:
The good news is the prognosis is excellent. He'll start treatment about mid-June and it will last about six weeks. The doctors caught it early. We were lucky.Get well Coach Dooley!
